The first meeting of the new Rural East Community Forum was held at Glooston Village Hall.

The main discussion topic was current and future Broadband provision in the area.

People also heard about how they can get involved in the Community Forum Budget process and they received feedback on the Green Spaces consultation that took place earlier this year.

On Monday 26th September, between 4pm and 6pm, there will be the Big Society Roadshow for Harborough, at Voluntary Action South Leicestershire, St Mary’s Place, Market Harborough, LE16 7DR.

This event will support the principle of ‘Helping to develop the Big Society in your local Community', providing information on Leicestershire County Council's Community Forum Budgets, the Big Society Grant Fund and other relevant funding information.

We hope to encourage community members and community groups to come along to the event in their District, to find out more about what is being done to support the development of the Big Society in Leicestershire.

Community Forums Review

Following the withdrawal of support for Community Forums by Harborough District Council, Leicestershire County Council have agreed to take over the organisation of Community Forums in Harborough.

The County Council will refresh the aims, operation and format of the meetings to ensure they are community-led and feature topics that are of relevance to the local community.

It is expected that a new round of Forums will take place in the autumn.

A meeting of the Rural East Community Forum has taken place on Wednesday, 2nd March 2011, 19:00 at the Coplow Centre, Uppingham Road, Billesdon, Leicestershire, LE7 9FL

The meeting included an interactive discussion to canvas local opinion and views on local green spaces. What green spaces do local people value and why. How can they be enhanced? Should they be protected? This will help to inform local policy and planning processes as well as our response to emerging national policies.

Other items included:
• Proposed relocation of Market Harborough Council Offices
• Policing update
• Question Time - your chance to raise questions about issues and services in your local area.

Rural East Community Forum on 21st September 2010

The Rural East Community Forum took place on Tuesday September 21st 2010 at the Tugby Centre, Main Street, Tugby, Leics, LE7 9WD

Some agenda items that were discussed:
• Community Safety Partnership and local Police
• Transportation & highways and future transport policy
• Questions were raised on local issues and answers will be pursued and noted in the minutes of the meeting

Your Voice Your Choice about Rural East, 26th April 2010

Leicestershire Together have made a budget of £20,000 available for each Have Your Say Community Forum area.

This funding will be allocated in a new, participatory way of making decisions about funding, with residents and community groups making spending proposals and voting on them.
It starts with this workshop for residents and community groups to share and discuss their ideas and then prioritise them.

The Rural East workshop was on 26th April, 6.00 – 9.00pm, at Coplow Centre, Uppingham Road, Billesdon, Leicestershire, LE7 9FL

The results of the voting are attached below.

A district-wide task group will now look in more details at the ideas and proposals to check the costings and ensure they are feasible. The task group will feed back at the next Broughton Astley Have Your Say meeting in June

- Update from the Police on local policing matters
- Question Time

People can also find out how they can be involved in deciding how £20,000 is spent in Lutterworth to support vulnerable and young people, to improve access to services & facilities and to support communities interested in their local area.
