Upcoming Meetings
The last Melton West Community Forum was held at Captain's Close Primary School in Asfordby.
Some 38 people attended the meeting and discussed progress on projects brought up through the Forum's participatory budget process. A recommendation was accepted by the Forum to fund the following projects:
Old Dalby Cricket Club (to fund a good quality cricket pitch mower and train ground staff) £8,000
Rotary Life Education project (to deliver life education skills to children in rural schools through a mobile project) £2,500
Gaddesby Play facilities (to fund a play area for Under Fives in the village) £3,000
The remaining £6,500 will be allocated to other projects that were proposed at the workshop meeting in September 2009.
Richard Downing and Paul Goodman from Leicestershire County Council will be meeting with those project proposers to try to progress their ideas.

The last meeting of the Melton West and parishes Community Forum was held at Ashby Folville Village Hall on Thursday 3rd September 2009.
Members of the community attended and shared their ideas about how they thought the Forum budget of £20,000 would best be used to improve the local area within the following priorities;
Improving access to services
Supporting and Developing young people
Supporting the local economy
There were a number of lively and interesting discussions around the workshop tables and by the end of the meeting everyone present used "voting handsets" to choose their preferred three options from a short-list of nine that were gathered on the evening. The three most favoured ideas were all around opportunities for supporting and developing young people; through the Old Dalby Cricket Club project, the Rotary Life Education project and the Gaddesby Playground project.
All agreed that they had enjoyed meeting other people from other villages in the West area and had been pleased and surprised at the number of good ideas put forward.
A task group of officers will now look into what needs to happen to put into action the favoured project ideas put forward and report back to the next meeting of the Community Forum in the New Year for endorsement.
