COMMUNITY FORUM BUDGET RESULTS:

The results from the Markfield, Ratby and Groby forum are now in. The forum has 3 projects that have been provisionally allocated funds.

The projects are: -

1 - Skate Park and Wheeled Sports Facilitiy, Ratby £5,000
2 - Home-Start £5,230
3 - Bagworth Old Coliery Sports Ground Pavilion £2,000

Reserve Projects Magic Markfield BMX Club and Memorial Garden, Groby.

TOTAL £12,500

The next stage is for for the task group to meet and check that the criteria has been met. Once these checks are done an offer letter will be sent out by the Communities & Places Officer at Leicestershire County Council.

The projects will be delivered between January and the end of June 2012.

There is still a chance for communities to get involved...

The next round will be in June - July 2012 where your community group could get the funding required so ensure you come along to your forum meeting planned for February - March 2012 where more information will be available. On Wednesday 21st September, between 4pm and 6pm, there will be the Big Society Roadshow for the Hinckley & Bosworth area, George Ward Centre, Church Lane, Barwell LE9 8DG.

This event will support the principle of ‘Helping to develop the Big Society in your local Community', providing information on Leicestershire County Council's Community Forum Budgets, the Big Society Grant Fund and other relevant funding information. We hope to encourage community members and community groups to come along to the event in their District, to find out more about what is being done to support the development of the Big Society in Leicestershire.

The MRG Community Forum took place on 15th September 2011 at Ratby Methodist Church, Station Rd, Ratby, 31 Station Road, Ratby, Leicestershire. LE6 0JQ

The forum discussed what the community can do to improve volunteering and engagement in their communities and the barriers that stopped people from having greater participation in their villages. Please see link for presentations and table discussions.

An extra MRG Community Forum took place on 28th July at 6.30pm at the newly extended Bagworth Community Centre on Station Road, Bagworth, Coalville, LE67 1BJ

Topics included a presentation of the £340K Big Society Grant Fund and the Consultation on Planing for travellers sties, as well as, an update on the future or Charnwood Forest
