On 13/09 2011 between 4pm and 6pm, the Big Society Roadshow for the Charnwood Area Forums took place at The Moira Centre, Moira Street Loughborough LE11 1AX.
This event was very well attended and supported the principle of ‘Helping to develop the Big Society in your local Community', providing information on Leicestershire County Council's Community Forum Budgets, the Big Society Grant Fund and other relevant funding information. Community members and community groups came along to the event to find out more about what is being done to support the development of the Big Society in Leicestershire.

The last meeting was held at the Moira Youth and Community Centre, Moira Street, Loughborough. 26 people were present. The main item on the agenda was a discussion item on local services to support people with money troubles and how local communities could help make knowledge about these services more widely available. The meeting also received feedback on the Green Spaces consultation that had been discussed at the previous meeting.

An informal networking and information session took place from 6.00 which included an opportunity to talk to local councillors, police officers etc.

The last meeting of the Area Forum was held at Limehurst High School, Bridge Street, Loughborough LE11 1NH, starting at 6.30pm.

The last meeting was held at Fearon Hall, Rectory Lane,in Loughborough.
About thirty people attended the meeting. A significant part of the meeting addressed the joined-up approach that is being taken to addressing anti-social behaviour in Loughborough. There were also presentations on the PCT's consultation about Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and the latest update on the progress of the Forum's PB budget projects.
As always, there followed a number of questions from the public to various service providers which will be addressed shortly or will become the subject of discussion at the next meeting.

The last meeting of the Loughborough East Area Forum was held at Shelthorpe Community School.
49 people attended the meeting and discussed progress on the projects bought forward through the participatory budget process. A recommendation was accepted by the Forum to fund the following projects:
Sidings Park Community Centre;
(to cover architects fees and set-up costs as the first stage of the process of creating a much needed new Community Centre in the Sidings Park area) £7,500.
Shelthorpe Community Garden
£5,000 has been allocated, but officers are working to see how this public money can best be spent through working in partnership with other gardening projects in Loughborough
Chapman Street Gardening Project;
(to bring about landscaping and other environmental improvements as part of the regeneration of the area). £2,000 has been ring-fenced for this newly formed group. Officers are working to see how public money can best be spent through partnership working with other gardening projects in Loughborough
Shelthorpe Play area;
(to remove old equipment and improve an area for teenagers including a Youth Shelter) £5,500 allocated.
The recommendations agreed above will now be put to Charnwood Together for final endorsement before funding can be released.

The Loughborough East Area Forum was held at Woodbrook Vale High School.
Members of the community attended a workshop and shared their ideas about how the Forum budget of £20,000 can best be used in their local area within the following priorities;
Improving opportunities for children and young people
Supporting vulnerable adults
Creating a cleaner, greener and safer environment
Around 50 people attended to put forward project ideas, to share and discuss these and ultimately, to vote on their favourites. The results of the voting can be seen by clicking on the link below. In the first vote each project scored between 1 and 9 on quality and relevance. In the second vote preferences were voted upon for projects to go forward. The four most favoured ideas were Sidings Park Community Hall, Shelthorpe Community Garden, Chapman Street Garden Project and Shelthorpe informal play and recreation area.
Officers of Leicestershire County Council, Charnwood Borough Council and partners will now work closely with the community groups to see how their project ideas can best be delivered. At their next meeting, the forum will make its recommendation on how the £20,000 can best be allocated across the various projects.
