Leicestershire County Council has made funds available to all 25 Community Forums in the county.
The Harborough Central forum will have £15k available per year for local communities to invest in local improvements of their choice.
We are looking for projects that can be delivered between January and the end of June 2012.
How can local communities get involved?
If you have a bright idea on how £15,000 can improve your local area, you can put forward a project proposal by 10th November 2011. For more information please click here.
From 11th November you can check our website to view & comment on submitted Project Proposals and make suggestions on how the projects could be further improved or developed.
You can attend the Harborough Central Community Forum Budget Workshop, scheduled for 29th November (6.30-9pm, venue tbc), where you can hear from all projects, discuss some projects in more detail and vote for your favourite projects.
PLEASE NOTE: Workshop spaces are limited and booking is essential. Registration opens on 11th November and will be on a first come, first served basis. You can register by clicking here or by calling 0116 3057034.

On Monday 26th September, between 4pm and 6pm, there will be the Big Society Roadshow for Harborough, at Voluntary Action South Leicestershire, St Mary’s Place, Market Harborough, LE16 7DR.
This event will support the principle of ‘Helping to develop the Big Society in your local Community', providing information on Leicestershire County Council's Community Forum Budgets, the Big Society Grant Fund and other relevant funding information.
We hope to encourage community members and community groups to come along to the event in their District, to find out more about what is being done to support the development of the Big Society in Leicestershire.

The Harborough Central Community Forum took place on Tuesday 20th September at the Baptist Church, 25 Coventry Road, Market Harborough, LE16 9BX.
The meeting commenced at start at 7pm and featured as main topic Affordable Housing. There was an introduction to Choice Lettings from Harborough District Council. Riverside and Seven Locks social landlords attended the meeting and there was an animated and productive open debate with local residents about what is positive about affordable housing and what are the concerns that local community have on affordable housing. Further details will be included in the minutes in due time
Residents could also hear about how they can get involved in deciding how to spend £15,000 to improve their local community

Following the withdrawal of support for Community Forums by Harborough District Council, Leicestershire County Council have agreed to take over the organisation of Community Forums in Harborough.
The County Council will refresh the aims, operation and format of the meetings to ensure they are community-led and feature topics that are of relevance to the local community.
It is expected that a new round of Forums will take place in the autumn.
A meeting of the Market Harborough Community Forum has taken place on February 2nd at at the Methodist Church, Northampton Road, Market Harborough.
More than 50 people attended and took part in an interactive discussion to canvas local opinion and views on local green spaces.
Other key agenda items were:
• Proposed relocation of Market Harborough Council Offices
• Policing update
• updates from Harborough Improvement Team and Harborough Be Safe
• Question time session to raise questions about issues and services in your local area
Harborough District Council announced its intentions to withdraw from supporting Community Forums as part of the package of savings and service reductions they are required to make. Delegates at the meeting urged Leicestershire County Council to take over the running of the Forums to ensure Market Harborough would continue to have a forum to discuss issues of importance to the town.

At the Market Harborough Community Forum in September it was requested if an event could be held concerning the Local Development Framework (LDF) – Core Strategy.
The LDF Task Panel & LDF Team has agreed to hold 3 meetings across the district where anyone can attend, these are:
- Wednesday 27th October at the Coplow Centre in Billesdon
- Thursday 28th October at the Pavilion in Lutterworth
- Wednesday 3rd November at the Methodist Church, Market Harborough
These events will start at 7pm and will show people how they can make ‘representation’ on the Core Strategy and should last no longer than one hour.

The Market Harborough Community Forum took place on Wednesday 29th September 2010 at 19:00 at the Evangelical Church Hall, 121 Bath Street, Market Harborough, LE16 9JL

Leicestershire Together have made a budget of £20,000 available for each Have Your Say Community Forum area.
This funding will be allocated in a new, participatory way of making decisions about funding, with residents and community groups making spending proposals and voting on them.
At this workshop residents and community groups shared and discussed their ideas and then voted for their favourites to prioritise them.
The results of the voting are attached below.
A district-wide task group will now look in more details at the ideas and proposals to check the costings and ensure they are feasible. The task group will feed back at the next Market Harborough have Your Say meeting on June 16th.
The next Market Harborough Have Your Say meeting will take place on 3rd March 2010 at 7pm at at the Evangelical Church Hall, Bath Street, Market Harborough.

- Update from the Police on local policing matters
- Question Time
People can also find out how they can be involved in deciding how £20,000 is spent in Broughton Astley to support vulnerable and young people, to improve access to services & facilities and to support communities interested in their local area.
