Blaby District Council is currently consulting on a document which will help shape the future of the area. The Council’s Core Strategy - which sets out a blueprint for development in Blaby district until 2029 - was agreed for consultation in December 2011 and six weeks of public consultation started on 19th January 2012. The Council is inviting comments on the document. After all comments have been received and considered, the final document will be submitted to the Government for independent examination. More »

The strategy sets out how the Council plans to balance the need for development in order to provide new homes and jobs, with the responsibility of protecting important areas in the natural and built environment. Although the document does not identify specific sites for development it does set out the Council’s policies on the scale and distribution of housing growth and economic development and how this can be achieved in a way that seeks to protect important areas of the environment.

People can view the draft Core Strategy along with any supporting documents online at www.blaby.gov.uk/core-strategy.

Copies are available to view at libraries across the district and the following locations:

• Blaby District Council Offices, Narborough
• Blaby Service Shop, Forge Corner, Blaby
• Braunstone Civic Centre, Kingsway, Braunstone Town
